Dutch blockchain community meetup at Exact Headquarters

On Wednesday December 7, 2016, Exact hosted a meetup of the Dutch blockchain community. Founder of Ethereum Gavin Wood and other notable experts treated the audience to a true deep dive into blockchain technology.

With around 180 interested developers, CTO’s, architects and other tech curious minds in our atrium, and many more at home watching the live stream, there was a lot of interest in the event. The meetup was kicked off by Exact CFO Onno Krap, who told the crowd he secretly envied them, as they are lucky enough to get to work with this exciting technology on a regular basis.

The ultimate form of trust

After a short introduction of the speakers by Rutger van Zuidam, organizer of the event on behalf of Dutchchain, keynote speaker Gavin Wood shared with the audience his vision on the future of blockchain. The rest of the program was a balanced mixture of highly technical insights, current developments at large organizations such as Microsoft and IBM and academic insights. Dr. Johan Pouwelse of the Delft University of Technology gave a short lecture on the evolution of trust throughout the centuries and made a case for blockchain being the ultimate form of trust. Lots of stuff to talk about during the pizza break and over drinks afterwards!

Blockchain hackathon

The blockchain deep dive was a prep event for the Dutchchain hackathon that will take place from February 10 to February 12, 2017, in Groningen. As Exact is always in for a good bit of hacking, several of our developers will participate. In a joint team with developers from the Dutch Chamber of Commerce and others, they will show their skills and knowledge and contribute to the coming of age of this very promising technology.

Triple entry accounting by Exact

Exact is actively looking into the possibilities that blockchain has to offer to our customers. We are doing so in several projects and partnerships, for example with the Dutch Organization for Scientific research (NWO) and the Delft University of Technology. We are also developing our concept of triple entry accounting, which is a way for SME’s to gain quick access to funding. It uses blockchain technology to create ‘reliability on demand’. Check the 3-minute video below for an explanation of the concept.
